3 Wings at 3 different price points in the 303. ($)

Our last place on our journey was definitely one to remember, Monkey Barrel. The decor and atmosphere in this one was unmatched. A whole wall of old school pinball machines, booths with Nintendo 64s loaded with Mario Cart. A ton of outdoor seating with a patio and a parking lot converted into picnic tables, with a spot to play cornhole and a big version of connect four.  Now to get to the food… we ordered the boneless wings with the Thai Asian sauce, a Nashville hot chicken sandwich with fries, and some chips & queso.  The sandwich was good, not very hot, which worked out for the my older kiddo. Wings were okay, sauce was a good combo of spicy and sweet.  Here was our choice for the best: Kiddo 1:Fire On The Mountain “ FOTM had the best wings but had the most fun at Monkey Barrel.” Kiddo 2: Mono Mono Korean Fried Chicken  “Best chicken but Monkey Barrel had the best French Fries.” Apparently he was judging French Fries 😂 Hubby: Fire On The Mountain  “Had th...

Spicy Shrimp Spaghetti

Image
I have had a craving for pasta lately maybe something about the weather changing. Anyhow I decided to try to come up with a new pasta, we had spaghetti and shrimp. So I decided a spicy shrimp pasta sounded good… and it was.  Here is the recipe: 12 oz of spaghetti  1 zucchini  2 chili peppers 20 oz shrimp  4 TBSP butter (room temperature/softened) 2 oz minced garlic  6 TBSP shredded Parmesan cheese  1. Boil water with salt and cook spaghetti  2. While waiting for water to boil cut zucchini in half and then cut 1/4 inch little moons, then thinly slice chilies. 3. Mix softened butter and minced garlic together. 4. Cook zucchini with a drizzle of olive oil and salt & pepper. 5. Then cook shrimp and add a little more olive oil if needed.  6. Reserve 1/4 cup of spaghetti cooking water and drain pasta. 7. Add spaghetti, garlic butter, 1/2 of shredded Parmesan, and pasta water to shrimp and zucchini. 8. Season with salt and pepper  9. Bowl up pas...

Spooky Gingerbread House

Image
On our last trip to Trader Joe’s my son spotted this spooky house kit and well just had to get it. It actually turned out to be a great project… was a little worried because I’m a bit of a perfectionist, I usually have to remind myself they are kids and art is in the eye of the beholder.  I built the house with him as it was difficult for him to keep the pieces up when attaching the next piece. Once we got the house up we let it sit and let the frosting harden a bit before attempting to decorate it. He had so much fun adding all the little candy pieces to it and wanted to explain how he decorated it when he was finished.  It was definitely worth the money, a fun activity for the kids and got them in the holiday spirit!

Butternut Squash Ravioli with Buttered Salsa.w

Image
This is one of my favorite fall dishes! When you think of fall you think of leaves changing, pumpkins, sweaters, and for me butternut squash.  I love butternut squash soup, it’s one of my all time favorites. So when I saw the butternut squash raviolis at Trader Joe’s I was excited.  I love the raviolis from Trader Joe’s they make dinner so easy when trying to juggle work, school, sports, and everything else life is throwing at us. The Butternut Squash Ravioli is soft and creamy and the buttered salsa has a fresh, salty, savory flavor that is just so delicious with the ravioli.  Recipe: 1package of Trader Joe’s Butternut Squash Ravioli  2 roma tomatoes  1 small red onion 2 garlic clove 2 oz pancetta 2 Tbsp butter Salt & pepper  1.) Dice roma tomatoes and red onion. Mince garlic cloves. 2.) Boil water with salt and cook package of butternut squash ravioli. Make sure not to over cook, it cooks quick. 3.) melt butter and add garlic, pancetta and onions, coo...

3 wings at 3 different price points in the 303. ($$)

My kids have really been enjoying watching a show called Worth It on Hulu, even enough that we watched the missing seasons on YouTube. The premise is they try a food item at three different prices and choose the most “worth it” at the end.  So we decided to try 3 wings at 3 different price points around Denver.  The first place we tried was Frie On The Mountain (FOTM).  We ordered eighteen wings with half Parmesan garlic and half Buffalo mild for the kiddos. I ordered a spicy margarita, next time I order it I would ask if I could swap the Tajin rim for a salt rim, just not a fan of Tajin.   We also got the appetizer sampler with onion rings, fried pickle spears and French fries. Overall the decor was relaxing and an enjoyable place to eat some wings. Lots of patio space, of course today was rainy but patios can be enclosed to still allow plenty of seating even when the weather isn’t cooperating. The next 2 wings in the 303 will be posted soon 😊.

3 Wings at 3 price points in the 303. ($$$)

As continuing our wing journey through the 303, we just went to our next stop at Mono Mono Korean Fried Chicken.  We ordered the combo as it was the best way to get a variety of wings. There is three different combos (A,B,C) all combos also come with the season french fries, Texas toast, and coleslaw.  We went with combo C: 6pc Teriyaki Soy 6pc Wings Saucy popcorn chicken Chicken poppers (Mild/ Saucy hot) Wings were good sized and the Teriyaki Garlic sauce was delicious. The kiddos loved the chicken poppers and it was more then enough food for the four of us.  They do serve liquor and even have a few of their own brews that are brewed at their Lafayette location.  I however didn’t indulge on this trip. Last wings to come 🤤…

Trader Joe's Breakfast Bagel!

Image
Trader Joe's Breakfast Bagel! My kids love bagels but both are vastly different; one loves everything and the other is super picky. In the morning we are usually in such a rush that breakfast is on the way to school, work, daycare, sports, ect... I can get these few items from Trader Joe’s and please both kids and myself, which is one in a million.  My youngest is the picky one, he just wants a plain bagel toasted with plain whipped cream cheese.  Me and the older boy enjoy the simple one but really love a little bit more flavor. Our go to bagel is toasted with plain whipped cream cheese, everything but the bagel seasoning, smoked salmon and chives. The whipped cream cheese just seems easier to spread, especially on a toasted bagel. This bagel is super delicious and takes no time at all to make. It’s close to the same begal that my son would always want from Einstein Bros Bagels, but way cheaper. We were also able to get everything we need to make this bagel at Tra...
